Who own the yacht?
Yacht is owned by Sailboat Partners Inc. By purchasing shares in the company, you are purchasing specific time slot of exclusive usage of the yacht.
Who qualifies to own?
There are no restrictions on ownership of time slot. A couple of families can get together, own one time block and split the cost. A single person can use it for him or herself and make money by renting of spaces available. No special marine certifications are required.
How does this program save you money?
For family of 4 in high season week your cost will be 4 x $917 = $3,668. Income from 4 available spaces will reduce your cost by $2,560. Your total cost for the whole family will be only $1,104 (=$3,668 - $2,560).
How much it will cost me, if only my family will be on the yacht?
The total
cost of one week sailing is only $649 per person/week (see table bellow). That includes
lodging, gourmet food, use of all toys, and side trips. Where else can
you sail a beautiful yacht in the Caribbean and Mediterranean for so little
money?
How much it will cost me?
There are 3 types of payments:
1. Share price (one time fee from $5,000 to $19,000).
2. Operating expenses for one week time slot are $179 a month, paid quarterly. Total per year is $179 x 12 (months) = $2,148.
3. Provisioning $30/day/person (for year 2009).
4. Gratuities to captain and chef. From each passengers it should total $50 to $70 per week for each of them.
How will the boat be financed?
The yacht will be purchased outright. All shares payments will be deposited into a trust account of our notary. As soon as the deposits will reach $220 000, the boat will be purchased. All of the additional money will be used for boat improvements, buying dinghy and water toys.
Why do you finance a boat in such a way?
The advantage to cash down payment on the yacht is, that there will not be any lien or mortgage on the boat. This brings the peace of mind that there will be no threat of foreclosure. Blue Dream will be owned outright. When the yacht is eventually sold all owners will split the proceeds of the sale - proportional to the amount they paid as a shares.
What are the operating expenses?
The operating expenses include the marina slip, fresh water, fuel, boat insurance, repairs, maintenance, clean linens and towels. As well base salary for the captain and chef.
Can I have access to the books?
All shareholders have access to the books any time.
Time blocks will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Once funds are received the time block will be reserved in your name. These blocks of time apply to the coming year and future years. Remember, you can trade, swap or sell your time to other co-owners of Blue Dream. This will increase the flexibility in usage that will benefit all of us.
When can I begin to use the boat?
Usage begins on Saturday at 4 P.M. and ends on Saturday at 10 A.M. (local time) 7 or 14 nights later. This allows some time for cleaning, mechanical inspection, repair and provisioning. For schedule planning for year 2009 and beyond, the two-week block for Christmas (time block #1) will begin on the Saturday before the 24th of December. For example December 20, 2008 to January 3, 2009. This will establish the Saturday rotational order for the following weeks each year.
Is there insurance on the boat?
Absolutely, all the time. Sailboat Partners carry coverage on the vessel, the equipment, the dinghy, and the outboard motor. The policy includes liability coverage in the amount of $1,000,000.
If I can’t go one year, can I let my friends use the boat?
Yes. Your time slot is exclusively yours. You can give your time slot to your friends or relatives.
My family has only 4 members and there are 8 places available on the yacht. What will happen to the remaining spaces?
Just 4 of you can spend time on the boat in absolute privacy. Or you can invite your friends to join you. You can always make your free spaces available for paying customers - charterers and receive income for it.
What is my total cost per person per week?
Cost of one week time slot. It is the same for all seasons.

If I will make spaces available to paying customers, how much I will be remunerated?
You could count with net between $240 and $640/week/person, depending on your time slot.

We are working with several travel agencies and have an email list of people interested in the last minute deals. Clients will pay different prices per week, depending on the time of the year. A seller could be anybody: owner of this time slot, owner of another time slot or travel agency.
What are the obligations of management?
Management duties include: scheduling, staying in contact with owners of the boat for current information about necessary repairs, authorizing repairs in conjunction with captain, collecting annual operating expenses in four annual installments, paying bills from repairmen, insurance, slip and providing overall management service. The yacht is managed by Mike Jirasek of Pointe Claire, QC, Canada.
What are my obligations?
Legal – none. There is no lien on the boat and it is insured all the time.
Financial – every 3 months, send a check for operating expenses.
Why is captain and chef remuneration split in salary and gratuity?
To keep them motivated and maximally attending to needs of passengers, half of theirs remuneration is performance based (gratuity/tip). Theirs base salary is bellow normal pay for the job, so it is recommended to give each of them tip $10 per day per person on board.
Can I sell my shares after a year or two?
Yes. You can find exact step by step procedures in the partnership agreement.
How will the partnership end?
If 2/3 of shareholders decide to sell the boat, it will be sold and each partner will get his portion of the proceeds after all obligations are paid. You can get more details in the partnership agreement.
